Type locality designated as exposures around Intricate Bay at southeast end of Iliamna Lake, Iliamna quad, Alaska Peninsula, AK. Consists of black to dark-green olivine-augite basalt which is glassy to porphyritic and exhibits columnar jointing. Is 100 to 150 m thick. Disconformably to unconformably overlies Gibraltar Lake Tuff and all other Tertiary rocks; underlies Quaternary surficial deposits. Is Pliocene(?) age.
