Summary:

Name proposed for the basal formation of Mariposa group on Merced River and southward into Indian Gulch 15-min quadrangle, Mariposa County, California. Consists of agglomerates, tuffs, sandstones and conglomerates. Thickness 3,500 feet. Underlies Mariposa slates (of /Mariposa group). Unconformably overlies Tuolumne [later Amador] group. Age is Mesozoic.
