Conner, G.A., 1986, Type section for Indian Creek Limestone Beds in the Ste. Genevieve Formation of south-central Indiana: Indiana Academy of Science Proceedings, v. 95, p. 307-311.

Summary:

Indian Creek Limestone Beds is a new name introduced here for the lower half of the Levias Member of the Ste. Genevieve Formation in south-central IN. Well exposed in streams, caverns, and quarries in the karsted headlands of Indian Creek, Lawrence and Monroe Cos. Type section and several reference sections designated. Beds were originally described by Malott (1952: Stratigraphy of the Ste. Genevieve and Chester formations of southern Indiana: Edwards Letter Shop, p. 85) as units 7, 8, and 9. The Indian Creek Beds are composed of 27.5 ft of lithographic, silty, dense limestone, thinly and evenly bedded. Top is 28 ft below base of the Bryantsville Breccia Bed of the Levias. The limestone strata immediately overlying the Indian Creek are massive and granular. The basal contact with the calcareous shale of the Rosiclare Member is conformable. Correlated with the Karnak Member of the Ste. Genevieve of IL. Age is Mississippian (Valmeyeran).
