Summary:

Name applied in the subsurface of northwest NM to one of three bar sandstones in the Gallup Sandstone that was formed as a sand bar. Type well designated as the Standard of Texas No. 9-1 Huerfano in SW1/4 SW1/4 sec 1, T24N, R10W, San Juan Co, NM in San Juan basin. The interval 5,470 to 5,490 ft is assigned to the member. Is separated from the Marye Sand Member (new), also a bar sand in the Gallup, by the "Low SP interval," and from the underlying "main Gallup Sandstone" by 10 ft of "Low SP facies." Occurs in an area about 2 mi wide and 24 mi long. Maximum thickness is 30 ft. Cross sections, areal extent map. Is moderately sorted. Has a medium to fine average grain size. The grains are subangular to subround. Is predominantly quartz with some minor amounts of feldspar and chert. Has little dolomite and abundant glauconite. Of Late Cretaceous age.
