Summary:
Named the Hubbardton slate for Hubbardton, Rutland Co., southwestern VT. Consists of mainly green slate with variable amount of purple slate. In some places the purple is more common than the green in upper part of formation and very similar to that of Bull slate. Thickness is estimated at 300 feet. Overlies Stiles phyllite (contact placed where small quartzite layers of the Stiles end) and underlies the Barker quartzite. The Hubbardton is of Early Cambrian age.
