Summary:

Reassigned from Little Osage Shale to Stephens Forest Formation (new) of Marmaton Group of Des Moines Supergroup. Is a thin regressive limestone present over all of south-central IA on the Iowa shelf. Ranges between 0.3 to almost 1 ft thick. Overlies Little Osage Shale Member (restricted to beds above the Summit Coal Member of the Morgan School Shale (new) of Marmaton Group of Stephens Forest Formation. Underlies the unnamed shale member of the Stephens Forest Formation. Nomenclature chart. Graphic section. Of Pennsylvanian, Desmoinesian age.
