Summary:

Name Homochitto proposed to replace preoccupied name Knoxville member. Homochitto is member of Pascagoula formation. Consists of sand, blue-green clay, and silt. Very coarse sand or fine gravel at base. Thickness 181 to 252 ft. Underlies Fort Adams member; overlies an unnamed shale, sandy shale, and siltstone unit 362 to 466 ft thick in lower portion of formation. Crops out in narrow belt across southwestern Franklin Co.
