Named as 3rd from lowermost member (of 7) of Deer Butte Formation. Type section designated as exposures at SW/4 SE/4 sec.28 T24S R43E, Malheur Co, OR. [lithology not described in this report]. Overlies Orlano Spring Member; underlies Quartz Mountain Basalt member (both new and of Deer Butte Formation). Age of Deer Butte Formation is Miocene and early Pliocene(?).
