Summary:

[Probably named for Hite Cove in Mariposa Co, CA on south fork of Merced River] Consists predominantly of metachert with lesser limestone and minor greenstone and mylonite. Is in fault contact with Briceburg Formation (new) of Mariposa Group). May be equivalent to part of Calaveras Formation. Generalized geologic map of road log shows age as Carboniferous.
