Summary:

Pg. 12, 16 (fig. 2). Hicks cyclothem. Pennsylvanian succession between the Gimlet and LaSalle cyclothems, exposed in upper Illinois valley, contains several prominent but thin limestones which are basis for recognition of incomplete cyclothems to which the names (ascending) Turner, Hicks, and Hall have been applied by H.B. Willman.

Presentation of new rock-stratigraphic classification of Pennsylvanian strata in Illinois; cyclical classification is independent of rock-stratigraphic classification.
