Summary:

The Hexenkopf Complex, here named, occurs in an area of 15 square km in east-central PA where the Reigelsville, Easton, Nazareth, and Hellertown quadrangles meet. It is a heterogeneous body of highly altered mafic rock of three general types: hornblende-augite-quartz-andesine gneiss, epidote-augite-hornblende-plagioclase gneiss, and quartz-garnet-augite granofels. It is in thrust contact with lower Paleozoic rocks on the south and with the Byram Intrusive Suite on the north. It underlies the Losee Metamorphic Suite and other metasedimentary rocks on the east and west. Age is Middle Proterozoic, predating all other Middle Proterozoic rocks in the area.
