Summary:

Pg. 12, pl. 1. Hemingfordian age. Provincial time term, based on the Hemingford group, including the Marsland and, especially, the limited or lower Sheep Creek fauna (Cook and Cook, 1933), and not on the formation limits as extended upward (Lugn, 1939). Covers interval between Arikareean and Barstovian ages. [In middle part of Miocene; = MERYCHIPUS faunal zone.] Report defines 18 provincial time terms, based on mammal-bearing units, for North American continental Tertiary.
