Summary:

Named for its occurrence along upper part, Hay Hollow, secs. 25, 36, T28N, R11E, Washington Co., OK on the Chautauqua platform. No type locality designated. Overlies and underlies unnamed shale. Consists of slabby sandstone about 1 ft thick. The sandstone is fine grained, compact, hard, yellow. Cylindrical sandstone casts half inch in diameter cover some of the slabs. Occurs 40 ft below top of Cheshewalla sandstone; very distinctive unit in shale sequence. Pennsylvanian age. Columnar section.
