Silty to clayey, calcareous, moderately to sparsely stony black diamicton in the lower West Canada and Mohawk Valleys of eastern NY here named Hawthorne till. Unit extends from North Creek to White Creek in West Canada Valley. Age equivalent exposures occur in Hawthorne Gulf. Dominated by black shale clasts. Also contains abundant dolomite clasts. Underlies Norway till (first used) and overlies Newport beds (first used). Deposited during the Port Bruce stade.
