Happy Valley Branch named as one of eight members of James Run Formation of Glenarm Group in northeastern MD. Unit is composed of light-gray to white, fine-grained, medium- to thin-bedded metamorphosed felsic volcaniclastic rocks with relict phenocrysts of sodic plagioclase and quartz. Overlies Gilpins Falls Member. Probably partly equivalent to Big Elk Creek and Principio Creek Members (both new) of James Run Formation. Age is early Paleozoic.
