Summary:

Unit is named the Hames Member of the Monterey Formation. Consists of siliceous mudstone, porcelanite, chert, and dolomite. Thickness is 2134 m. Conformably overlies the Sandholdt Member of the Monterey; underlies and intertongues with the Buttle Member of the Monterey, Santa Margarita Formation, or Pancho Rico Formation. Age is Miocene.
