Named the Greggs Landing marl for Greggs Landing on Alabama River, Monroe Co., AL. Consists of 5 to 6 feet of fossiliferous marine marl. Unit is separated from overlying Bells Landing marl by 20 to 25 feet of dark-gray sandy clays. The Greggs Landing is of early Eocene age.

The Greggs Landing Marl Member of the Tuscahoma Formation is included in calcareous nannofossil zone NP9 and is therefore of late Paleocene age.
