Summary:

Kinzers Formation in the West York block of the Conestoga Valley, York Co., PA, is here subdivided into the basal Emigsville Member (Gohn, 1976), the York Member (new name), and the Greenmount Member (new name). Greenmount Member described as an impure carbonate, appearing as sandstone and siltstone with very little carbonate where weathered. Is equivalent to upper member of Stose and Stose (1944). May be equivalent to Gohn's (1976) Longs Park member in Lancaster Co. though fossils there indicate a Middle Cambrian age. Fossils at Delta Carbonate indicate an Early Cambrian age for this upper member. This may be attributed to the time-transgressive nature of this unit. Thickness varies from 50 ft at Delta Carbonate Quarry to 180 ft in Lancaster Co. Member is missing in places because of slumping. Underlies lower dolomite member of Ledger Formation.
