Summary:

Grapevine Spring Member of the Kane Wash Tuff (revised) is named for Grapevine Spring in the southern Meadow Valley Mountains, Vigo NW 7.5' quad, Lincoln Co, NV. Type section measures at exposures at a prominence on the cliff 2.0 km northeast of Grapevine Spring; extends from lat. 37deg08.31'N, long.114deg41.35'W to lat. 37deg08.27'N, long. 114deg41.26'W. Consists of rhyolite to trachytite ash-flow tuff comprising one compound cooling unit. Thickness ranges to 90 m near southeast part of the quad. Conformably overlies the Sunflower Mountain Tuff (new); conformably underlies the Gregerson Basin Member (new) of the Kane Wash Tuff (revised). Age is Miocene based on K-Ar (sanidine) ages of 14.0 +/-0.4 and 14.2 +/-0.4 Ma.
