Summary:

Named as lentil in uppermost part of Hasen Creek Formation (new) of Skolai Group (new) for Golden Horn, peak 6365 in sec.23 T2S R17E, McCarthy C-4 quad. Type area designated on north side of Skolai Creek extending west from peak of Golden Horn to Tinplate Hill, sec.23 T2S R17E, Wrangell Mountains, McCarthy C-4 quad, southern AK. Forms bold yellow- and red-stained cliffs of massive bioclastic limestone with subordinate wackstone and calcite cemented arkoses. Is nearly 800 ft thick. Near terminus of Hole in the Wall Glacier conformably overlies Station Creek Formation (new) of Skolai Group; unconformably underlies Nikolai Greenstone, Wrangell Lava, or Frederika Formation. Age is Early Permian on basis of paleontological evidence. List and localities of fossils included in report.
