Summary:

Named Glenloch Formation of the Heard Group for community of Glenloch, Heard Co., GA. Consists of interlayered muscovite-garnet-quartz-feldspathic schist and muscovite-graphite-garnet-quartz schist. Weathers to light-orange soil and produces gravel of pea sized garnets. The Glenloch is the middle unit of the Heard Group; it adjoins the Roopville Formation to the north and gradationally adjoins the Centralhatchee Formation to the south. Age is believed to be Precambrian and early Paleozoic.
