Summary:

Named derived from Gas Point in northwest part of Ono 15' quad. Reference section designated as exposures on Crow Creek, Ono 15' quad, Shasta Co, CA. Described by Rodda (1959, unpub. thesis) as formational unit. Is here reduced to member status as youngest member of Budden Canyon Formation (new). Composed of about 3600 ft of mudstone and medium-bedded sandstone. At reference section also contains siltstone. Overlies Bald Hills Member (Budden Canyon Formation). Underlies either Red Bluff Formation or Tehama Formation. Shown as Cretaceous age on geologic sketch map of Ono and Chanchelulla Peak 15' quads.

Summary:

Divided into three parts at type [reference] section on Crow Creek: lower and upper parts composed of siltstone and mudstone, middle part of interbedded sandstones. Measured section of middle part is 680 feet thick. List of ammonites from mudstone units indicate age range is from late Cenomanian to late Turonian or possibly early Coniacian.
