Summary:

Unit is named the Five Card Draw Member of the Sunrise Formation (revised) of the Volcano Peak Group (new). Is equivalent to unit 7 of Muller and Ferguson (1939, GSA Bull., v. 50, no. 10, p. 1573-1624). Exposed in the Gabbs Valley Range in west-central Nevada. Consists of fine-grained siliceous siltstone and mudstone in the lower part and dark-gray to black mudstone grading to calcareous siltstone in the upper part. Conformably overlies the Ferguson Hill Member (new) of the Sunrise; conformably underlies the New York Canyon Member (new) of the Sunrise. Thickness is 100 m. Age is Early Jurassic (Sinemurian), based on fossils.
Type locality: exposures along Five Card Draw, Gabbs Valley Range, Mineral Co., NV.
