Foerste, A.F., 1917, Notes on Silurian fossils from Ohio and other central states: Ohio Journal of Science, v. 17, no. 6, p. 187-204.

Summary:

Name Euphemia dolomite applied to very porous Mottled Zone of Prosser (1916, Journal of Geology, p. 334-365). Identified by Orton with his West Union formation of more southern counties in OH. Cannot be identified west of New Paris nor south of Cedarville. Overlies Laurel limestone and is regarded as inaugurating the dolomitic series herein named Durbin formation, which includes the Euphemia, Springfield, and Cedarville dolomites. Age is Silurian (Niagaran).

Summary:

Euphemia dolomite is of Lockport age. At Springfield, OH, unit is 8 ft thick and is overlain by typical Springfield dolomite and underlain by Massie clay. Thicknesses given at other places range from 2.6 ft at New Paris to 7.2 ft at Cedarville and south of Covington. Not identified south of Cedarville. [Foerste's Springfield dolomite appears to be only a part of Springfield limestone of Orton.]

Summary:

Euphemia Dolomite averages 1.6 to 2.6 m in thickness. Environment of deposition was normal marine offshore, free from clastic influence; similar to Cedarville Dolomite. Unconformably overlies Massie Shale. Correlates with Bisher Formation to the southeast. Age is Wenlockian.
