Summary:

†EQUUS beds. A paleontologic name applied to Pleistocene deposits containing EQUUS remains. Replaced with different geographic names in different areas: In Kansas, with McPherson formation; in western Texas with Tule formation (also called "Rock Creek beds," but that name is preoccupied); in Nebraska and adjacent States the name "Sheridan formation" has been used, but that name also is preoccupied. The USGS in general calls the beds containing EQUUS remains the EQUUS zone, but McPherson formation and Tule formation are also in good standing in their respective regions.
