Summary:

Named as a bed in Puddle Springs Arkose Member of Wind River Formation of latest early Eocene or Lost Cabin age for exposures along East Canyon Creek, Fremont and Natrona Cos., WY, in south-central part of Wind River basin. Type locality designated in W1/2 SW1/4 NE1/4 sec 4, T33N, R89W. Is predominantly a granite cobble-boulder conglomerate with a coarse sandy matrix divided by a sandstone layer 23 ft thick. Boulders average 1 1/2 ft in diameter; some are as large as 4 ft. Is 130 ft thick at its type; averages 300 ft thick in subsurface to south. Has a maximum known thickness of 700 ft in subsurface. Overlies Cody Shale at type. Its base in subsurface is as much as 100 ft above base of Wind River.
