First used as a major provincial division (stage) of the Gulf series, younger than the Woodbine stage and older than the Austin stage, to include all strata which can reasonably be demonstrated to be equivalent to or correlative with the type Eagle Ford and its typical subdivisions in adjacent areas in east TX. Also called Eaglefordian. Is considered to be of Cenomanian (late part) and Turonian age.
