Summary:

Named as one of four tongues of Eocene Green River Formation for exposures near Dry Fork of Piceance Creek in the Piceance basin. Type section selected as NE1/4 SE1/4 NW1/4 SE1/4 sec 35, T1N, R97W, Rio Blanco Co., CO. Is a sequence of light-greenish-gray marlstone, and calcareous siltstone. Is exposed along south margin of White River City quad, on south side of Dry Fork. Ranges in thickness from 70 ft in southwest part, to 30 ft in southeast part. Is present in Barcus Creek SE quad, but cannot be identified with certainty to north and west. Overlies and underlies Uinta Formation. Both contacts are gradational.
