Summary:

Named for Dinkey Creek. Type locality is S shore of Shaver Lake [37 deg 08'40"N, 119 deg 18'09"W, Fresno Co, CA]. Is unit of Shaver Intrusive Suite (new). Called granodiorite of Dinkey Creek (Bateman and others, 1984). Ranges in composition from tonalite to granite; consists of 2 facies, equigranular and megacrystic. Intrudes Bass Lake Tonalite and is intruded by younger units of Shaver Intrusive Suite and by Mount Givens Granodiorite and other units of John Muir Intrusive Suite (new). K-Ar ages range from 101 to 80 Ma on hornblende and from 94 to 78 Ma on biotite (Bateman and Lockwood, 1976; Bateman and Womes, 1972a,b; Kistler and others, 1965). U-Pb age on zircon is 104 Ma (Stern and others, 1981). Age is Early Cretaceous.
