Summary:

Dellet sand member of Moodys Branch marl, here named in southwestern AL, is a friable and slightly tough, massive, argillaceous, glauconitic, fossiliferous, fine-grained sand at the base of the Jackson group. Unit is light-greenish-gray when wet and fresh, but for the most part is weathered to a light grayish rust-brown. Thickness is 2.2 ft. Disconformably overlies Gosport formation.
