Dellet sand member of Moodys Branch marl, here named in southwestern AL, is a friable and slightly tough, massive, argillaceous, glauconitic, fossiliferous, fine-grained sand at the base of the Jackson group. Unit is light-greenish-gray when wet and fresh, but for the most part is weathered to a light grayish rust-brown. Thickness is 2.2 ft. Disconformably overlies Gosport formation.

Dellet Sand Member of Stenzel (1952) adopted as Dellet Sand Member of Moodys Branch Formation (Jackson Group) in AL, but is called Clinchfield Sand across GA. Age is late Eocene.
