Summary:

Named as a member of the Hoxbar formation (raised in rank) in the Ardmore basin of southern OK in the S. Oklahoma folded belt province. Named from its occurrence at the abandoned coal mine of Daube and others in SE1/4 sec 8, T5S, R2E, Carter Co. No type locality designated. Is a 10 ft thick limestone similar to limestone of the Anadarche member; contains numerous large brachiopods whose shells shown in brown cross sections on weathered surfaces. The only bed of coal known in the Ardmore basin occurs just below the Daube, reaching a maximum reported thickness of 4 ft and extending at least 4 mi along the strike in T5S, R2E. At this locality, Daube includes a variegated conglomeratic cross-bedded limestone containing pebbles of chert, limestone, and shale. Lies 400-600 ft above the Anadarche member (new) of the Hoxbar; lies 400-500 ft below the Zuckerman member (new) of the Hoxbar. Overlies and underlies unnamed parts of Hoxbar.
