Summary:

Darien Coral Bed (of Kloc, 1983) is present just above the Lakeview Bed (of Miller, 1991) within the Darien Center Submember of the Wanakah Shale Member of the Ludlowville Formation. "Unit varies from a bed of scattered large solitary corals to a nearly continuous 15-cm-thick biostrome of solitary and branching colonial forms." Above the Darien lies the Fargo Bed (also credited to Kloc, 1983). Age of the Wanakah and its beds is Middle Devonian.
["Submember" not recognized as a formal stratigraphic rank term (CSN, 1933; ACSN, 1961, 1970; NACSN, 1983, 2005). Considered informal until formally published. The rank or lithologic term should not be capitalized.]
