Summary:

Pg. 34, 35, 36, 48 [45?] (table 1), 65, pl. 1. Danville coal member of Carbondale formation of Kewanee group (new). Uppermost member of Carbondale formation. In southern area, occurs above Galum limestone member; in western and northern areas, occurs above Copperas Creek sandstone member; in eastern area, occurs above Herrin (No. 6) coal member. Thickness about 1-2/3 feet. Danville (No. 7) coal is named Cutler (No. 7) coal; in northern and western areas, replaces name Sparland (No. 7) coal. Coal named by Bradley (1870, Geology and Paleontology, v. 4, Illinois Geol. Survey). Presentation of new rock-stratigraphic classification of Pennsylvanian strata in Illinois.
Type locality: In E/2 sec. 7, T. 19 N., R. 11 W., Vermillion Co., IL.
