Summary:

Named as the middle member (of 3) of Flagstaff Limestone for exposures on south side of Cove Mountain in NW1/4 sec 2, T19S, R4E, and SW1/4 sec 35, T18S, R4E, on the Wasatch uplift, Sanpete Co, UT, the type locality. Is characterized by white and yellow-brown dolomicrite that contains dolomitized ostracodal material, and has scour-and-fill structures, and flat-pebble conglomerate. Locally stromatolites, mud cracks, and chert nodules are common. Also has yellow-brown, olive-gray, and red-brown mudstone, sandstone, and dark-gray, bedded to nodular gypsum. Is 120 m thick on Cove Mountain where it overlies Ferron Mountain Member (new) of Flagstaff and underlies Musinia Peak Member (new) of Flagstaff. Thought to be of Paleocene and/or early Eocene age. Is part of a lacustrine-alluvial complex.
