[Name appears in this report at top of Hayes' Holly Creek section, (pl. 3, fig. 4) in northwestern GA, but is not defined. Shown overlying Ocoee slate. The conglomerate referred to is regarded by A. Keith as probably lower part of Great Smoky formation. Age is probably Early Cambrian.]

Several zones of pebbles and cobbles occur in Ocoee series of Murray Co. They are unusual and represent an inconspicuous part of the series. Perusal of Hayes unpublished report of Dalton quad indicates that these local conglomerates represent his "Cohutta conglomerate," but it is questionable if they have sufficient stratigraphic continuity to deserve formational recognition.

Boulder conglomerate, originally part of Cohutta Formation [conglomerate] of Hayes (1891) and Hayes (unpub. data, 1880's) is here renamed Parr Branch Formation to eliminate confusion. Equivalent to Pinelog Formation in Salem Church anticlinorium. Underlies Wilhite Formation; nonconformably overlies Fort Mountain Gneiss.
