Named as a member of Hopewell series (named) in Petaca area. Is exposed between Tusas and Kiawa Mountains, secs 33 and 34, T28N, R8E, Rio Arriba Co, NM in Southern Rocky Mountain region. May correlate with Badito quartzite (named) of the Hopewell series of the Picuris area. Composed of quartzite and quartz-mica schist of sedimentary origin. Source of name not given, and no type locality designated. [Stratigraphic position within Hopewell not discussed.] Geologic map. Not mapped as a distinct unit of Hopewell in Petaca area. Of Proterozoic age.
