Summary:

Named for Clarendon Springs, Castleton 15-min quad, Rutland Co., western VT. Consists of light-gray or dove, fine-grained dolomite. Thickness ranges from 100 to 200 ft thick. Differs from overlying Wallingford dolomite by its absence of sandstone or quartzite. Overlies Shelburne marble. Grades into Wallingford without interbedding or other features. Age is Early Cambrian.

Summary:

Extended into MA from VT. Age changed to Late Cambrian. Assigned to the Stockbridge group (rank raised) because the Stockbridge formation as used elsewhere is equivalent to the Clarendon Springs and other formations in VT.

Summary:

Revised as Clarendon Springs Formation. Figure 3 shows it as Late Cambrian in south-central part of report area and Late Cambrian and Early Ordovician in the southwestern part. [Late Cambrian is more widely accepted age elsewhere in VT.]
