Road log, topographic profile, chart, map. Chico Martinez chert member of Monterey formation. Overlies Antelope shale member; underlies Chico Martinez (Belridge) diatomite. Thickness about 700 feet. McDonald shale, Antelope shale, and Chico Martinez chert members are equivalent to McLure shale member of Monterey. Age is Miocene (Mohnian-Delmontian).
[Type locality not stated.] Occurs along Chico Martinez Creek, Kern Co., south-central CA.
