Summary:

Named as a member of the Little Cedar Formation (new) of the Cedar Valley Group (rank raised) in northern IA. Conformably overlies Bassett Member (revised) of Little Cedar and conformably underlies and intertongues with Eagle Center Member (new) of Little Cedar. Type section designated at Chickasaw Park, N1/2 NW NE sec 21, T95N, R14W, Chickasaw Co, IA on the Iowa shelf. Used in part of northern IA. Is 4+ m thick at type where it consists of medium-gray dolomitic shale and a minor amount of gray argillaceous to shaly dolomite at type. Ranges between 5.4 and 6.5 m thick. Is replaced southward by the lower part of the Eagle Center. Has brachiopods and bryozoans. Deposited in inhospitable bottom type of environment. Of middle Givetian, Middle Devonian age.
