Summary:

Unit is named the Chatanika Ash Bed. Is [enclosed] within the Goldstream Formation. Consists of White vitric ash. Thickness is 1 cm at type, ranges 1 to 10 cm. At type section a radiocarbon age of 14,760 +/-850 was obtained on a CITELLUS nest 4 m below ash layer, and an age of 14,510 +/-450 was obtained on a CITELLUS coprolites from silt 1 m above ash layer. Age is Pleistocene (Wisconsinan).
