Summary:

Cedar Cliff Limestone Lens of Swartz (1923) revised as Cedar Cliff Limestone Member of Williamsport Sandstone as used by Woodward (1941). Assigned to Williamsport Formation or Sandstone of Cayuga Group [group name is currently discouraged from use]. Assigned to Williamsport Formation or Sandstone in western part of area and to Bloomsburg Formation of Cayuga Group to the northeast. [Area not clearly defined, but map on p. 134 shows Williamsport as roughly within area in WV and VA bounded by Allegheny Front on the west, and including Alleghany, Bath, Highland, and part of Rockingham Cos., VA and Pendleton and part of Hardy and Hampshire Cos., WV, to the east of the Front. Williamsport and Bloomsburg intertongue in part of Rockingham Co., VA, parts of Pendleton, Hardy, and Hampshire Cos., WV, and Allegany Co., MD. Areal distribution does not extend to PA on map, but can be implied.]
