Summary:

Named for Catamount Mountain, west of Pottersville, Warren Co., northeastern NY. Forms slopes of Catamount Mountain. Consists of sillimanite schist. Thickness is 70 to 80 ft. Age is Precambrian. Included in Grenville series. Is older than Bear Pond schist and younger than Swede Pond quartzite.
