Pg. 81. Carman quartzite of Maquam group. Has type section at head of Shipyard Bay in Highgate Springs area, northwestern Vermont; it contains about 120 feet of thin- to medium-bedded quartz sandstone having a few argillaceous partings and includes some calcarenite beds in upper part. Section exposes contact with underlying Beldens calcitite but top is cut off by fault. [Extends into southeastern Quebec, Canada. Age is Middle Ordovician (Chazyan).]
