Summary:

Pg. 151-152, 170+. Cannelton (Stockton) shale in Kanawha formation. Sandy black shale, 15 to 34 feet thick, containing marine fossils. Underlies Cannelton (Stockton) limestone and rests on 2 feet of black slate containing fossil plants, or, where that is absent, on Matewan coal. Age is Pennsylvanian.
