Summary:

Named as a member of the Greenbrier series. Named for Cameron Co., north-central PA. Was previously mapped as Mauch Chunk in this area. Can be studied from well sections and exposures throughout county. Consists of red shale. Overlies Loyalhanna limestone member on Clarion River in southwest PA; overlain by Greenbrier limestone member which is in turn overlain by red shale called Upper Mauch Chunk shale. The Loyalhanna, Cameron, Greenbrier, and Upper Mauch Chunk members comprise the Greenbrier series. Age is Mississippian.
