Summary:
Named as the upper of five named sandstone tongues in the Terryville Sandstone (new) of the Cotton Valley Group. Type section is between 10,300 and 10,540 ft in the Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Co. Kavanaugh No. 1 in SW, SE, sec 22, T17N, R3W, Jackson Parish, LA. Is composed of white quartzose blanket sandstone about 50 ft thick. Overlain and underlain by unnamed gray shale of Hico Shale (new) of Cotton Valley Group. Shown as occurring in northern LA in Arkla basin. Has pinched out south of the AR-LA border. Cross section. Late Jurassic age.
