Summary:

Pg. 13-15. Burgess oolite, variable in thickness (0 to 40 feet) and physical properties. Liess 200 feet below top of Bangor limestone in Russellville district (Franklin County and western part of Lawrence County, northwestern Alabama). Overlain and underlain by blue fossiliferous limestones of Bangor limestone. Age is Mississippian.
Type locality at Burgess quarry, on a comparatively high hill 3 mi east of Russellville, Franklin Co., northwestern AL, where it has its greatest thickness, at least 40 feet.
