Summary:

Is named for metamorphic rocks in type locality in Bull Canyon, sec.34 T6S R4E, Idyllwild 15' quad, San Jacinto Mountains, Riverside Co, CA. Named first used (thesis, Brown, 1968) and mapped in Brown (1980). Is older(?) formation of Desert Divide Group. Consists of interlayered gneiss, schist, quartzite, marble, and calc-silicate hornfels. Is approx. 5500 ft. thick. Conformably(?) underlies Ken Quartzite. Intruded by quartz monzonite. Assigned Paleozoic(?) age based on stratigraphic relations.
