Summary:

First published use in the Osage Reservation area, Osage Co, OK on the Chautauqua platform. No type locality designated. Occurs with underlying shale at Buck Point [source of name?] and elsewhere around edges of the main divide between Sand and Buck Creek in T26N, R11E; on north side of Buck Creek in secs 2, 3, and 4, has a thin productoid-bearing stratum at top, which is easily traceable. Is about 45 ft thick and forms a prominent bench with a vertical cliff below. Immediately overlain by a thin shale, but mostly overlain principally by sandstone; occurs 95-115 ft stratigraphically below the top of the Revard sandstone. Lies 65-115 ft above the Okesa sandstone (new). Geologic maps. Stratigraphic sections. Of middle Pennsylvanian age.
