Summary:

Named upper member of Davis Canyon Formation by Lawton (1956, PhD thesis). Recognized in Morgan-Wilbur area in Lake, Yolo, and Colusa Countiess, northern California. Consists of mudstone and feldspathic sandstone. Composite columnar section of northern Great Valley sequence shows unit overlies "Baldy Mountain Member" of "Davis Canyon Formation" and underlies "Brophy Canyon Formation" of Lawton (1956). Age is Early Cretaceous (Aptian and Albian).
[Misprint in Lawton's dissertation abstract (1956, Dissert. Abs., v. 16, no. 10, p. 1885). Used term Davis Creek with Baldy Mountain and Buck Island Members intsead of Davis Canyon (name used in thesis manuscript). Davis Creek was listed in the Keroher Lexicon (U.S. Geol. Survey Bull. 1200).]
